The Teach and Code Socials are termly social and informal seminars organised by ARC Education in collaboration with the UCL community and beyond.
Teach and Code Socials aim to build community, and share knowledge and learning in teaching digital research skills.
This is a hybrid event with refreshments provided for those attending on campus.
Talk(s) will start at 3:15pm followed by networking.
Our February 2026 Teach and Code Social welcomes Toby Hodges, a bioinformatician turned community coordinator based in Heidelberg, Germany.
Abstract / Title: Developing training on genAI use in research (software)
Bio:
Dr Toby Hodges is Director of Curriculum at The Carpentries, a US-based non-profit teaching essential data and software skills to researchers in hands-on, inclusive and accessible workshops around the world. Building on over a decade of experience as an educator and community manager, Toby facilitates the open source curriculum development and maintenance activities of the Carpentries community. His research background is in biochemistry and bioinformatics. He lives in Heidelberg, Germany.
