Twin it café on 3D Material Ingestion

The Twin it! Cafés (online) aim to provide hands-on support to Twin it! national contact points, Europeana National Aggregators as well as domain aggregators and other colleagues involved in the Twin it! campaign. The Cafés will provide a dedicated platform to ask questions, share doubts, concerns, and find practical and immediate solutions and answers to queries in relation to Phase 2 of the Twin it! campaign, which foresees the 3D modelling, metadata and paradata creation and publication of 3D material in Europeana, running until 1 February 2024.

The ultimate goal of the Twin it! Cafés is to support capacity-building in 3D publication, and empower participants to fully and timely contribute to Twin it!. The Cafés are upon invitation only.

This Café will provide a dedicated space for Twin it! contact points and colleagues involved in the campaign to ask questions and find practical solutions to queries relating to 3D material ingestion as Phase 2 of the campaign, coming to an end on 29 February.

We encourage you to participate in this Café if you are encountering any type of difficulty in Phase 2, as the Twin it! Team at the Europeana Foundation will be able to assist you on the spot. The Café will provide an opportunity for Member States’ representatives to update us on the status of the campaign in their respective countries, and will allow us to swiftly address any encountered blockers ahead of the 29 February deadline.

The Café will focus on practical questions regarding the established workflow for 3D material ingestion within the Twin it! campaign, notably:

  • Submission of 3D material to Europeana via your respective Europeana National Aggregator (or via an alternative route in case your country doesn’t have a National Aggregator).
  • Use of the Europeana Data Model (EDM) for 3D models and the Europeana Publishing Guide for 3D content.
  • Recommendations on data quality.
  • Recommendations for Licensing.
  • Liaising with the Europeana Data Publishing Services team for feedback on the quality of the provided data, potential issues in licensing, or any other issue related to your submission.
  • Practical examples and lessons learnt from ongoing or completed Twin it submissions.

This Café will be delivered by the Twin it! Team at the Europeana Foundation, with contributions from:

  • Valentine Charles, Data Services Director
  • Henning Scholz, Partner & Operations Manager
