Audiovisual materials are amongst the more complex copyright works held in our cultural heritage collection, often with multiple layers of rights.
During this copyright office hours session, Europeana Copyright Community Steering Group members, Annabelle Shaw and Bartolomeo Meletti, will share an overview of some of the main considerations and possible approaches and solutions to navigating rights clearance for access and use, and open up the floor to exchange questions, challenges and experiences from participants.

Annabelle Shaw is Public Access researcher at the British Film Institute, where she leads copyright research, licensing and risk frameworks for the BFI’s mass digitisation archive projects and manages the BFI contracts and royalties system. Bartolomeo Meletti is a Senior Lecturer in Law and the Head of Knowledge Exchange for CREATe, the Centre for Regulation of the Creative Economy, at the University of Glasgow. He has led the development of both CopyrightUser.org and CopyrightUser.eu, which provide accessible and authoritative guidance on copyright.

Copyright and policy office hours are informal online sessions that aim to bring cultural heritage professionals together to discuss and address common challenges.
