Shaping the Future of Digital Cultural Heritage Professionals: Pioneering Approaches in Higher Education
A roundtable to open a debate with academia for sharing insights, challenges, and innovative
solutions related to the design and implementation of university programs that have a strong
focus on digital cultural heritage.
The ubiquity of digital technology is revolutionising the way we access, preserve, and make
cultural heritage part of our lives to the point where there is an urgent need for professionals
who can navigate the intersection between cultural heritage and digital technology. Recognising
this trend, a number of universities across Europe have begun to incorporate digital cultural
heritage within their degree programmes.
As part of the Europeana Foundation’s efforts to build synergies with academia and support new
professionals, this event features a roundtable discussion about innovative approaches to equip
the professionals of the future with skills that are increasingly essential in the cultural heritage
sector. It seeks to highlight emerging trends, identify gaps in current educational offerings, and
explore strategies to better achieve this objective.
As MA programme coordinators at their respective universities, the speakers will share their
insights, challenges, and solutions related to the design and implementation of teaching and
learning initiatives that integrate digital cultural heritage. The audience will have the
opportunity to ask questions and engage with the speakers in a Q/As session. New
professionals are particularly welcome to share their experiences on the route from higher
education to working life.
