Visitor information

We ask all visitors to treat the buildings, the art and the park with respect. Please do not make phone calls in the exhibition rooms and stay on the designated paths. Pets and the consumption of brought-in food and drink is not permitted. Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is prohibited on the entire premises. Large handbags, rucksacks and umbrellas must be stored in the lockers upon arrival. We do not accept any liability for the checkroom and the contents of the lockers.

Please follow the instructions of our staff. Visitors who behave inappropriately or violate the house rules may be asked to leave the premises.

Public guided tours, ticket purchase & cancellation

Limited number of tickets per tour/hour. Advance booking is strongly recommended. Timely arrival for guided tours is essential. If you arrive after the tour has started, you will not be able to join the tour. Cancellations via email to besucherservice@sdmuseum.de up to 48 hours before the booked date will be refunded in full.

In the event of illness of the tour guide, guided tours may be cancelled at short notice. Please note that we will inform you by e-mail if the tour cannot take place. In the event of cancellation due to staff illness, the ticket price will be refunded in full.

Private groups, ticket purchase & cancellation

After booking by e-mail to the Visitor Service, payment for the tickets is made via a payment link or, on request, by invoice. The booking is only confirmed once payment has been received.

Please let us know the exact number of participants at least 14 days before the start of the event. The booking can be cancelled free of charge up to 14 days before the date of the event. The booking must be cancelled in writing by e-mail to the Visitor Service.

If you cancel up to 48 hours before the start of the tour, half of the tour price will be charged. If you cancel less than 48 hours before the start of the tour or if the group does not show up, the full amount will be charged. Please note that if the group is late, there is no guarantee that the tour can take place.

It is not possible to exceed the maximum number of participants for the booked guided tours. If more participants show up than stated at the time of booking and the maximum number of participants for a guided tour is exceeded as a result, the Kunstmuseum Schloss Derneburg reserves the right not to allow the additional participants to take part in the guided tour.

Parking

We kindly ask our visitors to only use the designated museum parking lots. The public parking spaces are reserved for Glashaus and Laves-Kulturpfad visitors. We do not accept any liability for the use of our parking spaces.

Safety instructions

The exhibition rooms are under video surveillance. Stairways, passageways and escape routes must be kept clear for safety reasons. In the event of a theft alarm on the museum premises, museum management is authorized to close all exits in order to check persons and bags. In the event of a fire alarm, the instructions of the staff must be followed. Outside public opening hours, it is forbidden to remain on the entire site.

Sharp or pointed objects, writing utensils, large handbags, strollers, backpacks and other bulky items may not be taken into the exhibition rooms. It is not permitted to carry items of clothing over the arm in the exhibition rooms. In the event of damage to artworks, the supervisory staff are authorized to take the personal details of the person responsible. Visitors are liable for all damage caused by them.

Accessibility

The museum is partially barrier-free. Free wheelchairs can be reserved in advance. Our staff are there to assist if required. An elevator and barrier-free sanitary facilities are available. Parts of the outdoor area are covered with gravel. The paths through the wooded part of the castle park are not paved. The historic entrance to the cloister is interrupted by a few steps. There are some historic doorsteps on the first floor that may require assistance to overcome.

Families

We also welcome our youngest visitors. One accompanying person per child applies. We ask accompanying adults to ensure that the safety of the artwork is guaranteed, and that consideration is shown for other visitors. Running and romping around is not permitted. We ask accompanying persons to take children under 6 years of age by the hand. Children may not be carried on the back or shoulders. For safety reasons, we reserve the right to prohibit access with baby carriages.

Please note that sexually explicit or other potentially disturbing content may be shown in the exhibitions.

Filming & photography, audio devices

Photography without flash and filming are only permitted for private use. The use of lights, tripods, selfie sticks and other equipment is not permitted. The use of audio devices for sound output is prohibited.

Please note that it is not possible to take wedding photos in the castle. Wedding shoots in the park are possible by prior arrangement. Please contact us by e-mail at besucherservice@sdmuseum.de.
