Oráculois a dance theatre piece that explores afrofuturism and the migration journeys of the mythical figure of the Afro-Caribbean mermaid.
Katia Pacheco is an independent multidisciplinary artist from Puerto Rico, currently based in the U.K. Her creative universe explores Afro-Caribbean mysticism and futurism across contemporary dance, theatre, film, and literature. Within her practice, Katia carves out ideas on paper for stories and characters which she later develops in improvisational tasks that help her create a language movement based upon the character’s experience and emotional background. POWER/TRIP

Power: (1) the ability to control one’s own outcomes and those of others, and (2) the freedom to act. In power/trip, the yellow basketball is a physical representation of power. As a player, the performer embarks on a solitary and deeply personal journey moving through powerlessness, sudden authority, obsessive control, and the physical and emotional constraints that follow. Through releasing obsession, the performer experiences a sense of liberation and inner strength. Yet the power trip is a loop, inevitably pulling them back to the beginning of the cycle.

sawako ogo is a dancer and performer of many things, based in Berlin, originally from Tokyo, Japan. Previously based in San Francisco, she has performed in the works of Kristin Damrow, Christian Burns, Erin Yen, Natasha Adorlee, Joe Landini, and Babatunji Johnson, to name a few, through which she discovered and developed her own artistic voice. Since relocating to Berlin, she has worked collaboratively in interdisciplinary projects directed by Post Theater and Holger Seidelin, while producing her original pieces under sawako ogo | disasterchaotic. Her works were supported by and presented at: Finnish Hall (Berkeley), Lenora Lee Dance, Texas Improvisation Dance Festival, Bande à Part (Berlin), tanzwerk*kassel, Tanztendenz München, West Wave Dance Festival und RAW Dance (San Francisco), schwere reiter (München), ACUD Theater (Berlin) and Theatre Pool (Berlin).
