What is UNAVSA?
The Union of North American Vietnamese Student Associations (UNAVSA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-partisan, community-based organization. UNAVSA is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of leaders who will serve as stewards of the Vietnamese community.
What is the Annual Leadership Conference?
- The Union of North American Vietnamese Student Associations (UNAVSA) annually hosts a continental leadership conference that invites students and young professionals from across North America to gather for an event that will serve as a catalyst to motivate and inspire leaders within the Vietnamese-American and Canadian community.
When and where will UNAVSA-19 be hosted this year?
- UNAVSA-19 is hosted from July 11-14, 2024 in Newark, New Jersey at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Newark Airport.
Who attends the UNAVSA Leadership Conference?
- University students as well as young professionals will participate in the conference. Most attendees are affiliated with a Vietnamese-American or Vietnamese-Canadian student organization (VSAs, VSUs, UVSAs, etc.) seeking to develop personal leadership abilities, build on organizational management skills, and network with other leaders from around the North American continent.
- You must be 18+ years of age at the time of registration for UNAVSA-19.
GENERAL REGISTRATION QUESTIONS
What do I do if I have any questions or concerns before registering?
When will registration for the UNAVSA-19 Leadership Conference be open?
- All opening times are 12:00 am ET and closing times are 11:59 pm ET for the following registrations:
- Early Bird registration opens on Sunday, March 24th and closes on Saturday, April 6th.
- Regular registration opens on Sunday, April 7th and closes on Saturday, April 27th.
- Late registration opens on Sunday, April 28th and closes on Saturday, May 4th.
- Workshop and hotel registration are separate from registration. More information on workshop and hotel registration will be provided at a later date.
What is the cost of conference registration?
- Early Bird Registration: $140 USD or $190 CAD* per attendee.
- Regular Registration: $145 USD or $197 CAD* per attendee.
- Late Registration: $150 USD or $204 CAD* per attendee.

What forms of payment are accepted?
- When you are redirected to the payment section of the registration process, you will need to fill in your debit or credit card information via Stripe platform.
How will I know if my conference registration payment is processed and confirmed?
- You will receive an automated confirmation email once you have completed the check out process. If you have not received it, please reach out to conference.registration@unavsa.org.
How long will it take to verify my payment?
- Payment processing will occur immediately upon completion of conference registration. If there is high traffic on the site during the time of conference registration, it may take a few minutes.
What is included in my registration fee?
- Networking opportunity with almost 300+ students and young professionals from across North America
- Access to interactive conference sessions and keynotes

Can I get on a waiting list for conference registration?
- If registration gets sold out, you are eligible to get onto a waiting list through the registration website. Once a spot becomes available, you will receive an email and will have 48 hours to complete the registration process.
How do I get placed into the right family that fits my personality and needs?
- After you register for UNAVSA-19, you will receive a confirmation email that will include a link to a second private PreTix Event. Here, you will choose whether you are an attendee or an alumni. There is no cost to registering for this second ticket. You will be led to a page where you will answer questions pertaining to your personal interests, education, career, and so on. This information will be used by different U-19 staff committees like Family Programming, Hospitality, and Programming to ensure your experience is a once in a lifetime memory.

- For those who have registered during the Early Bird Registration period that occurred from March 24th, 2024 until April 6th, 2024, you will be receiving your link in a separate email on April 7th, 2024 when Regular Registration opens.

ALUMNI REGISTRATION
Who is eligible to register as an alumni/Friend of UNAVSA?
- You are eligible to register as an alumni/Friend of UNAVSA if you meet any of the following definitions:
- Alumni: Previously served as UNAVSA staff or UNAVSA executive board for one term.
- Friend of UNAVSA: Community members who contributed to UNAVSA, regional UVSA/IVSAs, or affiliated nonprofits in an official capacity. This may include but is not limited to UNAVSA mentors, CPP fellows, workshop presenters, keynote speakers, UVSA regional staff members, and sponsors. Friends of UNAVSA MUST be approved by the Conference Executive team before registering.
- Friends of UNAVSA registrations will require approval from the Conference Executive team upon submission. Once approved, tickets will be issued via email.
Differences from Regular, Alumni, and Friends of UNAVSA Registration?
- Alumni and Friends of UNAVSA registrants will not be placed into “families” for the duration of conference.
- Alumni and Friends of UNAVSA registrants will experience the same programming track - alumni programming.
- Alumni programming will be facilitated by the UNAVSA Alumni Relations Committee (ARC).
