Géssica Barreto is an artist, researcher and teacher of forró. She has a postgraduate degree in Dance and Body Consciousness and is studying for an Interdisciplinary Bachelor's Degree in Arts at UFBA. She believes that forró is a cultural, social and political movement and that it is possible to use our body-mind as a tool for revolution, change and self-knowledge.
She has been teaching since 2018 and her main goal today is to teach people to dance forró focusing on body awareness, autonomy and creativity, through contemporary and feminist perspectives.
In addition to these aspects, the content, methodology and didactics of her classes mixes Roots-style forró, shared dance, technique, communication, playfulness, comfort and musicality, always striving for a welcoming, relaxed and judgment-free environment. Her motto is "Courage to dance to your own rhythm!"
