Bold, clever, and captivating, Fantasizing Phryne weaves together burlesque, art history, academia, music, and storytelling into a unique cabaret experience. At its center is Phryne, one of the most famous courtesans of ancient Greece, immortalized as the muse of iconic masterpieces. But who was the woman behind these paintings? In this vivid performance, Phryne tells her own story – sensual, sharp-witted, and with a playful wink. Between glamour and social critique, the show explores big questions about sex work, women’s bodies, voyeurism, censorship, and queer utopias. A night full of humor, music, and theatrical magic – and a fearless celebration of feminine agency and imagination.
