Johann Eggebrecht - Until It's Something Else
Until It's Something Else explores dance as a technology of the body — part of Johann Eggebrecht's research into body-based practices that reclaim attention through repetition and durational tasks.
It lives between routine and ritual, energetic labour and dance language, joy and a bad trip — inspired by raves and the tender discipline of repeating one thing until it stops being a thing and starts being something else.
Using a contact microphone that amplifies repetitive stepping, Ismael Yakout live-processes the sounds through a modular system, creating a noisy, hypnotic soundtrack that feeds back into the dance. Body and sound build each other,
build rhythm, create a haunted space.
What happens when attention is sustained past comfort, past boredom? Is it loving commitment or rigid grind? What lives in the pauses, the in-between?
