Maker Space Workshop - MAKING SYSTEMS VISIBLE: Designing Climate Narratives in Print

Maker Space Workshop - MAKING SYSTEMS VISIBLE: Designing Climate Narratives in Print

A hands-on zine-making workshop exploring how to visually communicate complex climate and systemic issues through collage, mapping, and storytelling prompts. Participants will create zines that reveal interconnections without oversimplifying — using form and content to make the invisible visible.

Drawing inspiration from the visual strategy behind annual magazines like Icarus Complex, the session invites participants to imagine their zine as part of an annual publication that weaves together systemic reporting with clarity and care. Together, we’ll reflect on the pressures of publishing in times of urgency — and how to maintain depth and intentionality when stories only emerge once a year.

If time allows, the session will close with a collective conversation on how editorial and visual choices shape public understanding of climate narratives.

Pay what you can: 8–15 € (Payable on location via cash/PayPal)

This workshop is open to all experience levels — from independent magazine makers and visual storytellers to curious first-timers interested in systems thinking and climate narratives. All materials will be provided, but participants are warmly encouraged to bring along any old newspapers, scrap paper, pencils, or other tools they enjoy working with. Whether you're a designer, editor, writer or simply someone drawn to climate storytelling, you’re welcome.
