JASSA Wasser is a choral performance project that makes water perceptible as a sounding, political, and poetic space.
In traditional, contemporary, and modern works—accompanied by viola, electroacoustic distortions, and scenic elements—water confronts us as river, sea, ice, and memory: as habitat, border, mirror, and resistance.
The musical images range from flow and stillness to mythical water beings, folk songs, and colonial narratives, as well as to current ecological issues such as the drying up of lakes and the human-made alteration of natural cycles.
In dialogue with scientists, insights emerge into the physical, ecological, and social dimensions of water, which flow directly into the concert. In this way, water becomes audible from a human perspective—as a free, uncontrollable, and at the same time vulnerable element to which we ourselves also belong, since we are made up of 80% water.
