Welcome to the Liebig Museum in Giessen, where you can discover the life and inventions of Justus Liebig in his original, preserved laboratory. Justus Liebig (1803–1873) lived and worked in Giessen from 1824 to 1852, revolutionizing the natural sciences during that time.
Since 1920, his historic, protected laboratory has served as the Liebig Museum. The nonprofit Justus Liebig Society of Giessen e. V. manages the museum and makes it accessible to the public. The laboratory has been designated a “Historical Site of Chemistry” since 2003 and received the “EuChemS Historical Landmarks Award” in 2023.
We look forward to seeing you at our events. Please support our volunteer work with a donation or by becoming a member of the society.
