Anti-rights-movements increasingly target LGBTIQ+ and women’s rights globally. Across the African continent, the struggle for human rights and particularly for sexual and reproductive rights is shaped by both colonial legacies and contemporary geopolitical shifts. The U.S.'s departure from its leadership role in development cooperation and humanitarian aid, and the impact of globally operating faith-based actors in shaping anti-LGBTIQ+ legislation impact feminist and LGBTIQ+ human rights defenders. In this time of multilayered global assault on the rights of LGBTIQ+ individuals, it is crucial to respond in solidarity and in a way that takes a decolonial approach seriously.

- What are the consequences of the sudden stop of USAID for the activism regarding LGBTIQ+ in Namibia and Uganda?
- All programs to support LGBTIQ+ rights and gender equality are to be stopped and Anti-rights-movements are to be supported. What will this mean in practice?
- How are queer and feminist movements in Namibia and Uganda (and transnationally) countering current repressive trends?
- What role do international actors play in shaping legal frameworks both restrictive and protective for queer people?
- How can partnerships between Global South and Global North as well as regional queer movements be (re)defined to be (more) effective and equitable?
- What strategies ensure that movements remain resilient despite hostile conditions?
