Laila Diallo Choreographic Masterclass - Dark Skies: Bright Stars

As part of the Deep Space project from Mayes Creative’s Dark Skies: Bright Stars programme, join renowned choreographer Lailla Diallo and Cornish dance artist Lois Taylor for a day of creative and choreographic explorations, inspired and informed by the concept of cosmic rays and the night sky.

Enrich your practice through a series of task-based methods to access the body and develop your own choreographic processes through new creative threads in this special shared workshop day with other dancers.

15 places are available at a subsidised rate of just £25 for the day.

Laila Diallo is a Bristol-based dance maker originally from Canada who creates and tours new work nationally & internationally along with regular contributions to opera, theatre and television. An educator working within the university and vocational sectors and with youth and community groups, she also works with emerging artists and peers through commissioned work and via workshops, classes, talks and mentoring. A recipient of a Rayne Fellowship for Choreographers in 2006, Laïla also was an Associate Artist at ROH2, Royal Opera House, between 2009 and 2012. She sits on Theatre Bristol's Board of Directors and is a trustee of The Wayne McGregor Foundation. “I make dance because it seems to me that movement, people moving and the experience of watching people move and the joining in the dance can move us. It can move us deeply. To action, to tears, to thought. It can take us to a place of solace or respite, a place of escape or one of connection.”
