Pushing the Boundaries – and Staying in Control

In this 1-day English language advanced workshop, the Technical Director of Derivative – Markus Heckmann - author of essential TOXes like camSchnappr, Kantan Mapper and 3D Scope will give an overview over new features and how to make the most out of them. Together with Videodesigner Wieland Hilker (aka Jonas Schmitt), Markus will discuss individual problems and solutions the participants bring to the table and give insight in best practices and efficient workflows from around the industry.

In this workshop we will discuss:

  1. System architecture best practices
  2. How to get the most out of Python through extensions and libraries
  3. Custom Parameters, Binding, Parent/Global Shortcuts
  4. Replicators, Cloning and mastering the timerCHOP
  5. Importing 3D assets, light and render them with PBR Materials
  6. How to make the most out of the new Physics
  7. How to harvest data from APIs
  8. How Quad Reprojection will make your life easier
  9. Propose topics that you are interested in / have problems with
    and we will deal with them in the workshop!

Skill Level : Advanced
This class is directed towards participants of all genders, sexes and orientations that feel comfortable working in Touchdesigner, but want to get up to speed with advanced workflows and the newest additions. Not suitable for Beginners. Python heavy.

Requirements : Laptop with a 3-button mouse.
The latest release of TouchDesigner099 installed.

Markus Heckmann, Technical Director / Derivative
Toronto-based visual artist Markus Heckman, oversees operations at Derivative – the makers of TouchDesigner. His Wüstenarchitekten live video project has provided a creative outlet for his layered, geometric abstractions and installation work. Heckman’s non-narrative visual experiments explore the spatial quality of music and provide visual stimuli for the techno crowd alongside artists such as Carsten Nicolai and some key names on the Raster-Noton roster.
