Streaks of sky - About the edge of the sea and its birds

Bernhard Malkmus
Reading and discussion with Miek Zwamborn and Karsten Reise. Conducted by: Tanya Lieske
German and English

"Sky strokes" are the flight patterns that birds make in the sky. Author and German scholar Bernhard Malkmus observes them in the English-Scottish borderland of the Northumberland coast. He records the lives of the people under the "sky lines" as well as the lives of the birds - and their not-so-gradual displacement and extinction. In conversation, he meets author Miek Zwamborn and scientist Karsten Reise, who add their own observations of their homes on the Isle of Mull and Sylt. Tanya Lieske moderates and translates.
