Shared Reading Sessions
Shared Reading is a slightly different way of reading together and is based on the simple but powerful idea of letting words work on you. Literature is read aloud as a sensory experience in a protected space - across all cultural, social and age boundaries. In world literature, we encounter ourselves and others - and experience that it is beneficial and enriching.
An experienced facilitator (reading guide) facilitates access to great literature. He/she encourages, asks questions and leads the conversation about what has been heard and read.
Shared reading is neither therapy nor a book club or ambitious literature circle, but a tried and tested method of experiencing the effect of literature before our eyes and with our ears in an atmosphere of relaxed openness.
