R Dev Day @ New Zealand 2025 is an open, collaborative event for people interested in contributing to the code and documentation of base R, or to infrastructure that supports such contribution. Both new and experienced contributors are welcome! It's not necessary to be an R guru - if you've been coding regularly in R for a few years, you'll be able to participate (but we'll be able to use further expertise if you have it!).
You can choose to join in-person at the University of Auckland or online. Where there are a few people joining virtually in the same town/city, we will reach out to see if you want to meet up locally. Local hubs will be arranged based on registrations received prior to November 30. After that date you will only be able to select one of these local hubs or join online if you can't make it to Auckland.
This event is being run in two streams across two days, to enable remote participation across a broad range of time zones. You can choose to participate in one or both streams; the streams will work on independent tasks.
Registration will remain open until Sunday December 7, 2025.

Activities
Tasks are prepared in the run-up to the event, but will likely include:
- Reviewing, analysing and fixing code or documentation bugs reported on R’s Bugzilla.
- Contributing to message translations via Weblate.
- Developing contributor infrastructure, such as the R Dev Container.
You can see example tasks for previous events in the issues of the r-dev-day GitHub repo (some may be rolled over to this event!).
