rainbowR Conference 2026 until

About

rainbowR is a community that connects, supports and promotes LGBTQ+ folks who code in R, and raises awareness of LGBTQ+ issues through data-driven activism. Our inaugural virtual conference will bring together LGBTQIA+ users of R, and their allies, to promote their work and foster connections amongst the community. The conference is for anyone interested in R and/or analysing data to understand LGBTQ+ issues. You do not have to be LGBTQ+ to attend.

The conference is free to attend. We welcome donations/solidarity payments to support the running of the community.

We have an excellent lineup of LGBTQIA+ speakers across keynotes, regular talks and lightning talks, who will showcase the immense diversity of R users as well as the vast possibilities of what you can do in R. In addition to the talks, we are running four workshops led by experts.

We're also holding two virtual socials where conference participants can meet other R users to connect, share experiences, and unwind. Plus we're running a special conference edition of the rainbowR buddies scheme.

See the conference website for full details.

Buddies

The buddies scheme is a flagship rainbowR programme which randomly pairs members of the community. We're running a special edition of buddies for the conference!

You can opt-in by adding 'buddies' to your cart. During check-out, you'll be asked a couple of questions about yourself and your interests. In the run-up to the conference, we'll randomly assign you a buddy and send an email to each pair, making the introduction, populated with the information you provided in your answers to help get the conversation started. We encourage you to connect with your buddy in advance of the conference.

Note that this is only available if registering before February 18th. Buddies will be introduced to each other on February 19th.
