In March we will be hosting our first workshop in our new headquarters in Weißensee titled Introduction to Spatial Audio. We will have a 12.1 speaker arrangement.

This course is designed for artists, hobbyists, and those interested in working in spatial audio. In this course you become familiar with the terms and tools in spatial audio and listen to some music in 3D. This is an introductory course which will lead to future workshops that go much deeper in the directions of composition, live performance, and mixing.

In this course, we will go over the most common spatial audio technologies and their respective requirements, but then ultimately focus on the Cuckos Reaper digital audio workstation and the IEM plugin suite for both the cost (no cost) and relative ease of use. These tools are a great way to get started with a low barrier to entry.

In addition to the course itself, you will have an opportunity to ask questions to the instructor and hear demonstrations of some musical pieces using ambisonics. Each participant will receive access to an supplemental document that the instructor will provide that gives a more in-depth look into the history of spatial media, as well as information on the many different competing renderers, plus a glossary of the terms often used in this space.
