Boundaries, power & empowerment: Dealing with sexualized violence in the dance scene - Iman Gele
In this 3-hour workshop, we will collectively address sexualized violence and abuse of power
within the context of the Berlin dance scene. The focus lies on sharing knowledge, legal
foundations, awareness-raising, and empowerment strategies for those affected as well as
their allies. In addition to dialogue and reflection formats, we will use body-based methods—particularly movement approaches from the Afro-diasporic dance style Krump—to strengthen safety and self-determination within our own bodies. The workshop is open to dancers from all dance communities who are committed to creating safer spaces and fostering structures of solidarity. The aim is to develop concrete courses of action on both an individual and collective level.
The workshop will be held in spoken English, questions in spoken German are no problem.
