Mapping the System: Understanding Berlin’s Dance Funding Landscape - Jasna Layew-Vinovrski
Many artists shaping Berlin’s diverse dance scene come from international backgrounds, yet the freelance funding system in Germany is often complex and unfamiliar. This workshop offers an overview of the development of Berlin’s freelance dance funding structures over time, highlighting key milestones like „Tanzplan Deutschland“ and “Runder Tisch Tanz“. We’ll reflect on the differences between freelance and institutional funding and compare Berlin’s support structures to those in other German regions. What makes the Berlin freelance scene unique? Participants are invited to share experiences from their own countries, fostering a broader understanding of how dance is supported internationally. The goal is to empower Berlin dance artists- not just by explaining where and how to apply for funding, but by offering a structural and historical perspective that helps them navigate the system with greater confidence and clarity, especially in these challenging times.
The workshop will be held in spoken English, questions in spoken German are no problem.
