From Idea to Stage: Creating and Selling Your Own Work - Cecilia Bartolino, Carlos Aller

This workshop is designed for freelance dance artists who want to create and tour their own work without relying on public funding or institutional support. Structured in three phases; our method, open Q&A, and creative dialogue, it offers practical tools to help participants develop and promote their artistic projects. Drawing from our experience building a sustainable freelance career across Europe, we’ll share how we generate ideas, apply for residencies and festivals, build networks, create visibility, pitch to venues, and adapt works to different formats. We’ll also cover promo materials, social media, and navigating the freelance landscape. This is not a theoretical lecture, but a space for practical knowledge, shared strategies, and creative exchange. Participants are encouraged to bring their own ideas or ongoing projects to receive feedback and support. Ideal for anyone seeking visibility, sustainability, and creative autonomy in today’s dance field.

The workshop will be held in spoken English, questions in spoken German are no problem.
