This workshop introduces artists to 4E cognition as a conceptual framework for understanding their creative process—emphasizing the interconnected roles of mind, body, environment, and action. Through guided activities, participants explore how these elements manifest within their own artistic practices. The session then provides strategies for accessing deeper sources of knowledge, drawing from both academic research and less formal, often overlooked, cultural and experiential resources. These resources—ranging from theory to lived practice—are approached not as abstract data, but as material to be worked with. Participants explore ways to engage with this material meaningfully, finding what resonates and adapting it to expand their own processes. To support this applied inquiry, the workshop introduces open-source tools for organizing, visualizing, and documenting creative work, offering infrastructures that grow alongside evolving practices. This leads into a critical discussion of mainstream AI narratives, which often privilege efficiency and control over embodied and relational knowledge. Rather than treating AI as external or oppositional, the workshop frames it as a potential collaborator in speculative and ethical creation. Through hands-on engagement with creative AI tools, participants test new directions in their work. They leave with frameworks, tools, and open questions about where their practice meets a rapidly changing world.

The workshop will be held in spoken English, questions in spoken German are no problem.

Carson Reiners is an artist working with choreography, installation, and site-specific performance. Her practice explores how bodies move through space, interact with systems, and respond to architecture, history, and environment. Through teaching, collaboration, and public engagement, she works across disciplines to make visible the structures that shape our physical and social experience.
