Innenansichten – über den Zusammenhalt der Künste in Krisenzeiten der Vergangenheit und Gegenwart | Ein Benefizkonzert gegen Antisemitismus und Ausgrenzung

The final concert of crescendo2025 traces the history of the Faculty of Music and recognizes the responsibility that the UdK Berlin bears as an art academy in the current times.
Alarming, recent developments are not only expressed in the loss of social solidarity. In this progressive division of society, increasingly harsh positions are emerging. Here at the UdK Berlin, too. Grey areas diverge into black and white and the exploitation of language means that seemingly benign terms encode extreme views.
The musicians at this year's closing concert are confronting the current divisive opinions and strengthening the sense of community of the university members and the audience. The power of music, especially through its non-linguistic form, can have a unifying and strengthening effect. However, this power of the arts also brings with it a special responsibility that the next generation must be made aware of. Students must be made aware that subjugating their own artistic position to an ideological mandate opens the path from art to propaganda and that their own work gradually loses its artistic power. Art is always communication and opens up a space for reflection that must be preserved at all costs. We are committed to the preservation of democracy, the prevention of totalitarian acts on both a small and large scale and the promotion of the arts as a critical element of creative individuality.
In the course of the evening, music will be presented that is connected to our institutional history in various ways, and discussions will shed light on the multi-layered problems of the social developments outlined above. Teachers and students of the university will perform, and personalities from the worlds of art and culture will speak.
