Una notte, nel suo condominio quasi vuoto nella Londra contemporanea, Adam (Andrew Scott) ha un incontro casuale con un misterioso vicino di casa, Harry (Paul Mescal), che spezza il ritmo della sua vita quotidiana. Mentre si sviluppa una relazione tra i due, Adam è ossessionato dai ricordi del passato e si ritrova attratto nella città di periferia in cui è cresciuto e nella casa d'infanzia in cui i suoi genitori (Claire Foy e Jamie Bell) sembrano vivere, proprio come il giorno della loro morte, 30 anni prima.
