Hannes Seidl: B-Ebene. Underground Stories Neukölln

With his ways of music theater, also Hannes Seidl creates a unique experience of the flow of time. Based on observations and recordings of everyday routines on the B level of the subway station at Neukölln’s Hermannplatz, students from the Albert Einstein Gymnasium are developing a piece about everyday life and dreams of a better future. The former C&A department store (now “CANK” for C&A Neukölln) was abandoned in 2012 due to increasing competition from the internet. On the immense surface of the first floor, with its mirrored columns and the markings of former sales routes, a multi-choir portrait of a city emerges – how it views itself, how it was, and how, perhaps, it could be.
