JIVE Story Night on Syria at the Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial

JIVE bridges the gap between journalism and the performing arts. We bring researched stories to the stage, making them emotionally tangible while giving a human face to the reporters behind them.

The centerpiece of this evening is the journalist Sulaiman Tadmory. Born in Homs, Syria, he originally aspired to be a filmmaker but the outbreak of the civil war in his hometown transformed him into a reporter "by chance". Today, he reports from Hamburg for the German public broadcaster Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR).
Following his powerful JIVE performance in November 2025, he is bringing his story back to a Berlin stage. He will exclusively expand his narrative to include his latest investigative work on the "Damascus Dossier" following the collapse of the Assad regime.

Following the audience Q&A, Dagmar Hovestädt (longtime spokesperson for the Federal Commissioner for the Stasi Records and currently working with the association Prisons Museum) will guide visitors on a short, curated walk through the special exhibition, highlighting key artifacts before you are welcome to explore the exhibition independently.

Programme Schedule (15 July):
5 pm: Guided tour of the memorial's permanent exhibition with curator Mr Engwert
6 pm: JIVE stage performance by Sulaiman Tadmory, followed by an audience Q&A
7 pm: Curated exhibition walk with Dagmar Hovestädt & open reception
8 pm: Event concludes
