Aschenputtel
Aschenputtel (Cinderella) really doesn’t have it easy. She has a stepsister who bullies her and a wicked stepmother who’s always unfair to her and gives her tasks
that are impossible to complete. And her father is away on a journey.
But don’t worry—our play is full of humor, and in the end, the stepmother and stepsister end up hurting themselves more than Aschenputtel, which only makes her even more upset. They’ll stop at nothing to prevent Aschenputtel from accepting the charming page’s invitation to the prince’s ball. After all, this is her big chance to become queen, because the prince is looking for a bride!
How fortunate that magic exists in fairy tales: at the hazel bush, Aschenputtel receives a ball gown from the elves and is able to meet her prince after all. Although she is the only one who actually just wanted to come to dance—or perhaps precisely because of that—the prince and she have a lot of fun together, playing, secretly eating ice cream, and teasing the loyal and clever steward.
And although Aschenputtel must be home by midnight and flees, the prince and his page eventually find her again, for no
other girl (not even from the audience) can fit the delicate shoe she left behind at the ball.
All of this can be experienced in the fairy tale “Aschenputtel”—humorous, musical, lavishly staged, and lovingly presented by the Tournee Theater Hamburg.
