Forró do Xenhenhem

Forró do Xenhenhem is a trio from Buenos Aires that interprets Brazilian forró from a uniquely Argentine perspective. The group consists of Mariana Debenedetti (vocals, triangle, pandeiro), Sabrina Figueroa (zabumba), and Pedro Bragán (accordion).

Since its founding in 2021, the group has been active in numerous cultural centers both in the northern suburbs of Greater Buenos Aires and in the capital. From 2022 to 2024, the trio established a monthly concert series at the “Tiempos de memoria” cultural center in Vicente López.

The ensemble has a successful track record at festivals: Between 2022 and 2024, they were regular performers at the “Nossa Festa Junina” festival organized by AMMBRAR (Association of Brazilian Women in Argentina). In 2024, they also performed—both with their own program and alongside Brazilian singer Neidinha Rocha—at the “Festa Junina” at La Rural, organized by the group “Me leva que eu vo.”

Furthermore, Forró do Xenhenhem seeks interdisciplinary exchange: in collaboration with the poet and performer Daniela Andújar, the group combines music, dance, and poetry. The trio also maintains a close collaboration with the “Comunidad forrozeira de Buenos Aires” and regularly organizes joint performances in the city of Buenos Aires.
