Unmute – turn up the volume on unheard stories

Once upon a time, in a kingdom far, far away... You already know how the story goes, don't you? Yes, and that's exactly the problem.
We're stuck in the same old stories. And it's not just us, it's the whole world. Those stories where the hero has to defeat evil, and the princess needs this hero to fulfill her destiny? Yes, these stories have had an impact in almost every part of the world and influence the way people live their lives.
We have a weekend to talk about this and invent new and different stories for ourselves or rediscover old, forgotten stories. This way, we can tell each other about a new world that we can also try out by acting out our stories in short scenes.

So if you feel like telling your stories about a new world and acting them out, come join us.

Who?
People of all ages who want to contribute, take on unusual perspectives, and are interested in acting. We especially welcome people whose stories and perspectives are suppressed and marginalized.
We look forward to meeting people with and without disabilities, German language skills, or (endo) cis identities.

Please note: The workshop is not a safe space.

The speakers?
Christina (she/her) is a freelance theater director from Hamburg. She has been directing with various, diverse groups for many years, always has a story to tell, and enjoys learning about new perspectives.
Jan (he/him) does political education. He likes movement and space for new and unheard perspectives.

Christina and Jan have been working together for some time now. 

Food and accommodation?
Accommodation is in shared rooms (single rooms may also be available) and full board is provided.

How to get there?
The nearest train station is Himmelpforten, which is within the HVV network. If necessary, we will pick you up together with other participants on October 3 from the train arriving in Himmelpforten at 4:08 p.m. and take you to the train leaving for Hamburg at 2:51 p.m. on October 5. We will ask you on the registration form if you need a shuttle.

Participation fee?
It is important to us that this workshop is open to everyone, regardless of their financial means. Since we are a house without structural funding, we are nevertheless dependent on payments from participants. Project funding makes it possible for us to offer this event on a donation basis.

Based on your own assessment, you can indicate on the registration form how much you can afford to pay for accommodation in double or shared rooms, meals, and the program. This helps us to ensure the continued existence of ABC, and those with more money support those with less.

We have a limited number of single rooms available. If you would like a single room, please indicate this under “Room preferences.” We ask for a participation fee of €50 or more for single rooms (adjustable in the form).
