Are you ready to rediscover Coffea canephora?

We’ll be meeting for the 4th edition of Canephorum - Diversity & Value at the beautiful Bouchout Castle (Plantentuin Meise) in Belgium!
Two days of science, roasting craftsmanship, and sensory analysis centered around Canephora. We will discuss “diversity and value” – from genetics to the finished cup. A must for anyone who wants to delve deeper into the world of coffee.

Day 1, Monday, 22 June 2026

Arrival and batch brew coffees begin at 09:30, followed by a welcome at 09:45 with Lukas Harbig and Dr. Piet Stoffelen.

From 10:00 to 11:00, Dr. Piet Stoffelen and Dr. Robrecht Bollen will give the keynote lecture “The Origins of Coffea canephora as a Global Coffee Crop.”

From 11:00 to 12:00, Dr. Catherine Kiwuka will present “The Value of African Canephora Diversity for Coffee.”

Lunch is scheduled from 12:00 to 13:00.

From 13:00 to 15:00, Parallel Session 1 runs with a Botanical Garden Tour, a Herbarium Tour, and a curated cupping.

At 15:00, Dr. Michel Rocha Baqueta will present “Approaches for Tracing Diversity in Canephora” until 16:00. Parallel Session 2 follows from 16:00 to 18:00.

Closing remarks are scheduled from 18:00 to 18:30.

Day 2, Tuesday, 23 June 2026

Arrival and batch brew coffees begin at 09:30. From 10:00 to 11:30, Dr. Lukas Macheiner will present “The Chemistry of Optimal Canephora Roasting.”

A group photo at Bouchout Castle follows from 11:45 to 12:00.

Lunch is scheduled from 12:00 to 13:00.

From 13:00 to 14:00, Lukas Harbig and Gloria Pedroza will lead the workshop “Value Through Quality: Industry Perspectives on Canephora.” The program concludes with a final discussion from 14:00 to 15:00 on “The Future Role of Canephora,” followed by the official closing.
