Born in Ravensburg, Germany, Rainer Böhm has earned himself a place at the very top of the ranks of German jazz pianists and has received prizes in uncountable numbers. He can be heard on more than 60 recordings, and as a professor of jazz piano he teaches at the Hochschule für Musik in Nuremberg and Mannheim. He is active in a wide variety of lineups, most recently performing solo at the 2019 Landesjazzfestival in Ravensburg.

Of course, Rainer Böhm has a classical background, he is particularly interested in the French composer Olivier Messiaen. With his style in mind, he wrote the music for his new sextet, in which he brings together top-class individualists - including Wanja Slavin and Jonas Burgwinkel. The resulting band sound is characterized by transparency and dynamics, expressivity and interaction.

Rainer Böhm's new sextet presents cutting-edge, emotional modern jazz.
