DARK SKIES: BRIGHT STARS is a Mayes Creative project, bringing together heritage partners and creative practitioners to explore the exciting history of astronomy in Cornwall.

As part of this, FULL CIRCLE offers a one day film workshop, an 8 day film retreat and an immersive and creative weekend of dance, voice and film workshops responding to the dark skies, bright stars, neolithic sites and landscape of Bodmin Moor. All workshops and events are kindly subsidised by Heritage Lottery Fund & Feast. A unique creative opportunity, not to be missed! For our immersion weekend (Friday 22nd - Sunday 24th Sept 2017), choose a creative focus from the workshops below and either book separately for a workshop and events or pick a weekend ticket which covers all events (including the Friday evening buffet).

Introduction from Robert Schaller.....

Of all the places humans live on earth, a handful stand out as places of enduring fascination and special significance. Bodmin Moor is one of these. Spend a week as a filmmaker coming to understand and film this transcendent landscape and its neolithic stone circles as the year comes to the autumnal equinox. We will be using non-toxic processes, processing our film in the open air, and investigating unconventional ways to capture images so that they reflect both the nature of the place and of ourselves as embodied beings in it. Delicious vegan food is provided for all meals, and we will be camping at the moor's edge. Black and White film, chemistry, and processing equipment will be provided. This will be a true immersion, a week with no other concern but how filmmaking can relate to an extraordinary site. On days 1 and 8 we will be joined by members of the UK filmmaking community and on day 9 we are invited to share in (and film!) the special events taking place at The Hurlers stone circles.

Bring your favourite 16mm/8mm film camera (some equipment available by request)

Participants also have free entry to our Full Circle Heritage Immersion Weekend events (22-24 Sept 2017), including Friday night buffet.

Camping included from Sat 16th to Sat 23rd (inclusive). Additional nights can be bought at £6/night as add-ons
