Join us for a low-light walk at Castle an Dinas, spending time with like-minded people and engaging in the wonderful Cornish landscape, considering local wildlife, history, landscape and skies.
Castle an Dinas is a magnificent Iron Age hill front sited in a spectacular position on the summit of Castle Downs. It boasts an extensive and panoramic viewing profile which stretches across central Cornwall to both north and south coasts. It dates from the second and third centuries BC and is situated seven-hundred feet above sea level making it truly breathtaking.
We will meet at 7:30pm, in time to make it up before dusk to watch the sunset all around Cornwall. Then, led by Carolyn Kennett FRAS, we will stargaze, looking up to our ancient skies and exploring historical star stories as well as astronomy. Then at 10:30pm, we are hoping to spot the Milky Way!
This event is friendly for all ages and will be led by experts. It is only a short walk with a free car park located close to Castle an Dinas. We will be hosting a zoom meeting before the event to settle any questions or nerves. Walk approx 2 miles in length.
