What is defined as a ‘Brennpunkt’ is regarded as a trouble spot. First and foremost, however, it is a place where things are buzzing, where energy breaks through and sparks fly. For Dresden’s club culture, the industrial site in the north of the city is a ‘Brennpunkt’ in every sense of the word. Since the mid-1990s, life and music have been celebrated in the buildings that once served as armaments factories during two world wars. Today, the area is one of the last corners of the city where the bass can rumble largely undisturbed; the focal point of a spotlight through which highly concentrated light pierces the night. Yet even here, the clubs are coming under increasing pressure, primarily due to rising rents and operating costs. That’s why, on 26 September, four of them are joining forces to celebrate in solidarity during a long night of clubbing!
None of the clubs tolerates any form of group-based hostility; no racism, no sexism, no homophobia and no transphobia, nor anti-Semitism, Islamophobia or anything else.
