At the end of the year, visitors to the Rabensteiner Stollen are in for a very special experience: the former coal mine in the southern Harz Mountains near Ilfeld invites you to take a candlelit tour of the mine.
After arriving at the underground station, the tour continues on foot through the old mine to the former coal-mining areas. You’ll learn interesting facts about bcoal mining, and during the tour you can also try out an original rail bike and walk through a section of the tunnel by candlelight alone.
As a special highlight of these special tours, the finale takes you underground to the festively lit foreman’s bay.
Here, guests are treated to a hot mulled wine or punch and a slice of homemade Harz winter cake. The guide will also entertain you with the story of how, according to legend, the Rabensteiner Stollen got its name almost 300 years ago.
