Tannhäuser goes Ammersee
In the summer of 2026, we are bringing another major Wagner opera to the lake with Tannhäuser goes Ammersee. Following the success of our 2022 open-air production of Der fliegende Holländer, we are celebrating our association’s tenth anniversary with a fresh staging of Tannhäuser und der Sängerkrieg auf Wartburg in a truly unique setting.
Our mission is to bring Richard Wagner’s music to extraordinary locations and to inspire a love for opera in everyone. Alongside high artistic standards, we are deeply committed to supporting young talent. Together with experienced artists and international scholarship holders, we create an operatic experience that breathes life into classical music and brings it directly to our region.
Sustainability is also a core value for us. We focus on digital programs, reusable props, and regional, seasonal catering—combining culture with a sense of responsibility.
The project is driven by our board and dedicated members, supported by an international network of artists, patrons, and Wagner enthusiasts. Since our founding in 2015, projects like "Klassik am See" or "WagnergoesWild" have proven that Wagner can captivate audiences far beyond the traditional opera house. Tannhäuser goes Ammersee is the next big step for us—an opera event for everyone, set in the heart of nature and fueled by passion, community, and artistic excellence.
