BaBa ZuLa – „30th Anniversary Tour“

Even 30 years after its founding, this legendary band from Istanbul remains the most experimental representative of the highly acclaimed contemporary Turkish psych rock scene, which includes artists such as Altın Gün, Gaye Su Akyol, Lalalar and Derya Yıldırım & Grup Şimşek.

BaBa ZuLa was founded by Levent Akman (spoons, percussion, machines, toys) and Murat Ertel (electric saz and other string instruments, vocals, theremin), who are considered pioneering sound innovators and have built up a worldwide cult following, with fans including bands such as Einstürzende Neubauten, Can and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. The renowned MOJO magazine once described them as ‘Turkish veterans who bridge the gap between Erkin Koray, Can and Mad Professor’.

BaBa ZuLa's songs are pulsating, hypnotic tracks carried by Turkish percussion, glitched electronics, deep bass and an electric saz. They are often a lively sonic and political statement from a band that continues to show us the future.

Speaking of the future: in 2026 BaBa ZuLa will celebrate their 30th anniversary. In addition to a best-of album, there will also be new songs. And most importantly, a big European tour to celebrate with you everything that has happened in the band's context over the last 30 years.
