[deutsche Version unten] The StartMiUp Hackathon - AI for Mittelhessen is a 48-hour event where you’ll work in teams to solve real-world challenges posed by companies in Mittelhessen. At the end, you’ll present your digital prototypes and innovative solutions to the companies and a panel of judges. The best team wins a prize. Two special prizes will also be awarded.

Do you code, design, develop products, think strategically, or just want to get something off the ground quickly with others? Then join the StartMiUp Hackathon in Gießen from June 5 to 7, 2026. We’re looking for talent in the fields of software engineering, AI & data, design & UX, product & business, and pitch & project. But even beyond these areas, anyone interested in helping shape the region's future is very welcome to join us.

Schedule
Day 1 begins around 5 p.m. and is dedicated to getting to know the companies and the challenges they’ve brought to the table, followed by the assignment of participants to a specific challenge. The supporting program features inspiring speakers and offers the opportunity to network with other creatives from the Mittelhessen community over finger food and drinks.
The theme for Day 2 is “Build Your Prototype.” Working in teams, you’ll begin developing your own solutions. You’ll also have the opportunity to seek out specific technical input through keynote presentations and from the coaches on site.
The theme of Day 3 is “Polish and Pitch Your Prototype.” Once again, you’ll work independently in teams and receive targeted expert guidance through keynote presentations and feedback from the coaches on site. The day will conclude with a presentation of your innovative solutions during an awards ceremony, which will end around 7:00 p.m.
About the organizers
The event is organized by StartMiUp, the Innovation and Startup Campus Mittelhessen of Justus Liebig University Giessen, University Marburg, and the University of Applied Sciences Mittelhessen. Ablauf
Der 1. Tag startet gegen 17 Uhr und dient zum Kennenlernen der Unternehmen und ihrer eingebrachten Herausforderungen sowie der anschließenden Zuordnung zu einer Challenge. Das Rahmenprogramm bietet inspirierende Speaker sowie Möglichkeit, sich bei Fingerfood und Getränken, mit anderen Kreativen aus der Community in Mittelhessen auszutauschen.
Der 2. Tag steht unter dem Motto „Build your Prototype“. In Teams beginnt Ihr die Eigenarbeit an der Lösungsentwicklung. Zudem habt Ihr die Möglichkeit, euch gezielt fachlichen Input durch Impulsvorträge und den anwesenden Coaches einzuholen.
Der 3. Tag steht unter dem Motto „Polish and Pitch your Prototype“. Erneut arbeitet Ihr eigenständig in Teams und erhaltet gezielten fachlichen Input durch Impulsvorträge und den anwesenden Coaches. Den Abschluss bildet die Präsentation euer innovativen Lösungen im Rahmen einer Preisverleihung, die gegen 19:00 Uhr endet.

Veranstalter ist StartMiUp, der Innovations- und Startupcampus Mittelhessen der Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen, Philipps-Universität Marburg und Technischen Hochschule Mittelhessen. Kooperationspartner sind die Digitalagentur Fabrik 19 sowie der Co-Working-Space Rivvers und Förderer der Europäische Fonds für regionale Entwicklung.
