Carnage

What do adults do when two children fight? They bash each other in, of course. In Yasmina Reza's wickedly funny comedy hit, the Reiler and Köhler couples meet to mediate the conflict between their eleven-year-old sons. They intend to discuss the next steps in a pedagogically sound manner – surely something like this can be resolved quickly. But then the question arises: why did one boy hit the other? Perhaps because of the parents' obvious marital problems? Hardly, the other boy provoked him! Suddenly, the two sides are on a battlefield where there seem to be no rules. Words are used in the fight, and in the end, neither expensive furniture nor marriages remain intact.

In Reza's sharp-tongued comedy "Carnage," two sets of parents meet to settle a harmless argument between their children – but what begins as a polite conversation soon develops into a verbal sparring match full of irony, dark secrets, and surprising truths. With plenty of dark humor and spot-on dialogue, the production exposes the facade of civilized coexistence.
