A feature documentary following Jay and Vol’demar, a queer couple and professional dancers navigating love, identity, and survival within Kyiv’s underground scene during Russia’s full scale invasion of Ukraine.
Set against a backdrop of war, the film explores how dance, community, and chosen family become acts of resistance. Through intimate access and poetic storytelling, TO DANCE IS TO RESIST offers a powerful portrait of resilience, queer joy, and the enduring strength of Kyiv’s LGBTQIA+ community.
Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with director Julian Lautenbacher.
