crescendo 2024: unERHÖRT - The Music Festival of the UdK Berlin
unERHÖRT - this is the motto under which style-defining works not only from the emerging 20th century are performed. We celebrate Arnold Schönberg and bring important music by other great names to the stage - always with a balance of excellence and progressiveness.
The festival program is unERHÖRT versatile, presented by the youngest members of the choir groups, students from various artistic fields and established teachers of all instruments. The festival opens with Beethoven's 9th Symphony and closes with works by Shostakovich, Schnittke and Schreker. To mark the 150th anniversary of Arnold Schönberg's birth, his oeuvre will be a recurring theme throughout the festival: on May 29 with chamber music by Mahler, Zemlinsky and Schönberg, on the Schönberg weekend on June 1 and 2 with chamber music, lectures and solo works or on June 4 with Pierrot Lunaire. His students, including Ullmann, Weber and Newlin, will also be heard.
The events are free of charge and take place on a donation basis.
The festival has been under the artistic direction of Prof. Markus Groh and Prof. Konstantin Heidrich since 2017.
