Evote Innovation Hub - Volt Europa GA Pre-Event
Join in Tirana or online to shape with us the future of digital voting & participation within and outside of Volt!
The EUR Data Team, EUR Tech Team, and the Digital Affairs Thematic Community (DigiCom) are organising this Volt Europa GA pre-event to engage Volt in the multiple domains of digitalisation.
Participate in three intertwined workshops on data analyses, 'hacking' the internal IT (tech) or participate in policy op-ed creation on the Friday before the Volt GA.
Expect amazing speakers, engaging workshops and, of course, a lot of coffee! Get your ticket now and sign up for one workshop!
Reserve your spot, as space is limited. If you can't attend in person, we can arrange an online option. However, online participation is also limited.
Data workshop
In this hands-on workshop, you will work with a voting behaviour dataset to explore interesting patterns. Before we start cracking the numbers, we will brainstorm about hypotheses to test to support the policy discussions. The aim of the analysis is to gain some practical experience working with Volt's internal voting data (anonymised or simulated if need be). Through hands-on analysis, we’ll uncover insights that can help inform future decisions about voting systems and democratic participation.
Skills required: affinity with data analysis and general interest in the topic.
Tech workshop
Voting is crucial for our democracy and for Volt as a pan-European organization. But how can we make our internal votes reliable, secure, and accessible? Join us to brainstorm and collaborate on our next voting system. We'll also look at digital voting from a user experience perspective and discuss the issues of designing secure online and accessible voting systems.
Skills required: affinity with tech or the topic.
Policy workshop
We will explore key issues in digital democratic participation across Europe, including electronic voting (and its risks), barriers to digital ballot registration, and misinformation in elections. Participants will together choose one issue, analyse it, and propose solutions. The workshop will conclude with writing a collaborative op-ed outlining our vision for a more accessible digital democracy, as input for the policy process of Volt.
Skills required: no affinity with tech or the topic needed.
