Interactive seating plan editor (beta)
In August 2019, we added the option to handle reserved-seat events within pretix. In these past 15 months, over 500 events used pretix with a seating plan. While choosing a seat and buying a ticket was as easy as it gets from the customer side, creating seating plans in the format supported by pretix required some programming knowledge. More than 80 different seating plans have been created by our team in the meantime, and some customers created their own.
The difficulty of creating seating plans was a major inconvenience for many of our clients in adopting and using pretix, since they could not easily make changes to their own seating plans when seating configurations or pricings changed. As the interest in seating plan registration increased amidst the Covid-19 pandemic and became increasingly relevant to sectors such as public libraries or church services, the manual creation of seatings plans through us was no longer really practical.
We've therefore spent a lot of work on creating a self-service interactive seating plan editor to enable you to create and modify seating plans on your own. It's not fully complete yet and we'll continue working on it over the next months and years, but it already allows you to create plans for the majority of all venues. If you have a very large venue (3000+ seats), one with a round shape, or lots of tables, you are still very much welcome to reach out to us for us to create your seating plan.
Our editor is currently only available in English, which is why we created a Video tutorial on how to use it for our German-speaking customers.
