pretixPOS release 2.1

13. April 2021

Over the last days, we've released versions 2.0 and 2.1 of our cash register app pretixPOS. Together, they bring a variety of new point-of-sale features to the pretix ecosystem.

Cashier login

pretixPOS 2.0 adds support for individual cashier login. Using this new feature, you can keep track of who performed specific actions, like you already can for actions in the pretix backend.

Cashier accounts are separate from pretix users, and can be set up in the organizer settings section of the pretix backend. Cashier accounts can be protected with a PIN to prevent unauthorized access.

Using cashier teams, you can implement a fine-grained permission model. For example, you can limit specific groups cashiers to specific devices, or disable certain parts of the app such as changing settings or performing refunds.

Badges & photo questions

pretixPOS 2.0 adds the option to print badges for sold tickets. Badges work similar to tickets, but have previously only been supported in our pretixSCAN apps. With the badge support in pretixPOS, you can print badges in addition to tickets or as an alternative.

Additionally, support for file-type questions has been implemented, allowing the cashier to take a photo as part of the sale process. Together with pretixPRINT 2.3, which added support for Zebra plastic card printers, you can use this to implement ID-card badges with a photo of the ticket holder.

Training mode

pretixPOS 2.1 allows turning on a new "training mode", which works similar to "test mode" in pretix: It allows you to perform test purchases without altering your reports permanently. While in training mode, pretixPOS will create pretix orders in test mode.

Unlike test mode orders, receipts created in training mode can never be deleted (as this would be a violation of cash register regulations e.g. in Germany). However, they will be clearly marked as training receipts and do are not counted in reports.
